weekend

The house stands at Loutí 36, near Rabyně, in the hills above the Slapy reservoir in Central Bohemia. By car it is 45 to 50 minutes from Prague: most of it motorway, then a few kilometres of country road that narrows as it climbs. A satnav sometimes offers a track across the meadow — ignore it. Follow the village of Loutí to its end and turn uphill at the bins.

What is at the end of it is a slope of forest and water. The reservoir sits below you. The nearest beach is at Nová Rabyně, two kilometres away, and the two paddleboards that come with the house are meant for exactly that.

Three cars fit on the property, and a wallbox is ready right beside them — a wall-mounted charging point you plug the car straight into. Leave it overnight and it is full by morning, so the drive from Prague and back needs no charging stop. Bicycles have a locked store, so you can bring them and leave them.

Check-in runs on a keypad from 16:00, so nobody waits for anybody and no one hands you a key. Checkout is before 10:00.

The house is warmed by a fireplace with a heat-retaining top and carries solar panels on the roof. The terrace is 55 m² and faces the valley, which is where most of the weekend tends to happen.

It suits families, small groups of friends, weekends by the water and a few days of working somewhere quiet. It does not suit parties, and we would rather say so before you book than after.
